At the moment I am not willing to plug in my next keyboard until I get completely rid of auto-"DFU" program. When you finish uninstalling the drivers, reboot your system. Right-click the Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) driver and select Uninstall device.

Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section. It is possible that there is confirmation before the upgrade, but I am not sure. Open the Device Manager by pressing Windows Key + X and selecting Device Manager. Is it possible to somehow reset Plug and Play Data and prevent the automatic running? How do I prevent my XP computer running this "M-Audio DFU" program again and wiping of the firmware in device? Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. ATM I am waiting for new unit to arrive via mail. It wiped of the firmware in my audio device. Process got stuck during upgrade and my new keyboard was just flashing it's power light. Cause There is an incompatibility issue between the earlier Windows version and the driver. It turned out that "DFU" means "Device Firmware Upgrade" and it is not working correctly. When the user installs a driver or updates the system, they are prompted that the driver program is damaged or the PnPutil.exe program cannot be found. If the driver is already installed on your system, updating (overwrite-installing) may fix various issues, add new functions, or just upgrade to the available version. As I am used to do with PnP dialogs I just accepted that without thinking and also selected option to "Do this automatically" or whatever the confirmation was (possibly "Do not prompt again?"). The package provides the installation files for Microsoft USB Input Device Driver version 0.16384. I confirmed that and it asked again that it found something, this time "M-Audio DFU". It was working well with window 7 but window 10 it is not working.
